its military efforts in China  while political tensions roil the world. In Europe  France is
falling and Asia is bracing for its impact. The Netherlands  now occupied by Germany  is forced
to give up its resource-rich colonies in the Netherlands. The East Indies are vulnerable to an
oil-starved empire in Japan. French Indochina will soon be occupied by Japanese land  sea and
air forces. Britain was given an ultimatum to close the Burma route or risk war with Japan. The
US responds with an embargo on strategic raw materials. The scene is set.
