Hopeless by Elsie SilverBook 5 of 5 of Chestnut Springs Series - Interconnected standalone - Dual POVBeau Eaton is 35 and returned to his hometown Chestnut Springs after his last special forces deployment went terribly wrong. Beau is struggling, tortured by recurring nightmares. His family and the people in town are treating him with kid gloves, not sure how to deal with this moody awkward version of the formerly All-Smiles-and-Charms guy. Beau hates the work at the family cattle farm and ends up at the Railspur, the towns best bar every afternoon trying to drown his nightmares and anxiety. But Bailey Jansen, 22, barkeeper at the Railspur, and outcast in this town due to her horrible family, is not having it. She might be young and inexperienced, but she is the only one calling Beau out and not cowering when he turns up his sullen attitude.Bailey is working hard and saving to get away from her felon father and brothers and a town full of prejudice against her. She dreams of studying at university and start at a place nobody knows her as a “Jansen”. Beau tries to fight his growing attraction towards Bailey because of the 13-year age gap, but can’t stay away, now drinking chamomile tea and waiting for Bailey’s shift to end night after night to get her home safely. To prove a point he suggests a fake engagement claiming that people will treat her differently as the future Mrs. Eaton. But the fake relationship starts feeling very real very fast…Beau and Bailey are both broken, but strong and resilient at the same time. I love how Beau puts everything on the line vor Bailey when he recognises he was wrong about the town. Bailey slowly begins to trust Beau and starts to believe she truly is worth this.Beau and Bailey complement each other and mend each others souls. This is the fifth and last book of the Chestnut Springs Series. While I’m sad the series is over, I am very much looking forward to Elsie’s new series Rose Hill, coming in 2024! “Wild Love” will feature Ford Grant, Willa’s brother.
