Kotomi's is an important queer voice from East Asia's millennial generation and Solo Dance
depicts the painful coming-of-age of a gay person in Taiwan and corporate Japan. Solo Dance is
our first translation from the Japanese. Li Kotomi is a bilingual Japanese-Chinese writer
translator and interpreter. She was born in Taiwan in 1989 and moved to Japan in 2013. Solo
Dance was written in Japanese her second language. The way the authors straddles two languages
and cultures is very interesting. With her powerful voice Kotomi blows a fresh new breeze
into the often introverted world of contemporary Japanese literature. -JAPANESE MINISTRY OF
EDUCATION CULTURE SPORTS SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Buzz is already building a year prior to
publication. Words Without Borders ran an excerpt for Pride Month 2021 and LGBTQ Reads
announced the book deal creating excitement on social media. The LGBTQ community is embracing
the novel already and we're publishing the novel in June in celebration of Pride Month 2022.
The author has an online presence and is active on social media but unfortunately speaks no
English. We'll rely on the translator to help promote the novel.
