Striking Kabuki characters brought to life in images from the Ashmolean Museum's collections. A
new fine art calendar from Flame Tree. The Ashmolean began when the wealthy antiquary Elias
Ashmole (1617–92) gifted his collection to the University of Oxford in 1682. Today the
Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology houses Western Art Eastern Art Antiquities Cast
Gallery and the Coin Room. The Japanese Kabuki character portraits in this wall calendar are
taken from the collections and are all by the ukiyo-e artist Utagawa Kunisada. Informative text
accompanies each work and the datepad features previous and next month’s views. Printed on
FSC-certified paper with plastic-free packaging.
