The present volume concerns the history of biblical interpretation and its ongoing significance
in light of more cultural and material approaches to scriptural interpretation. The range and
variety of insights arising from many key moments in the history of biblical interpretation and
the ways in which Auslegungsgeschichte stays close to the words of the biblical text while also
interpreting it in light of the message and the needs of the church in different ages: these
