The consequences of climate change are no longer limited to melting glaciers in distant
countries but have become a reality for us all in the form of extreme weather events much
closer to home. This raises the question of who should be held financially liable for the
resulting damages. At this point German liability law needs to focus on the companies
responsible for around two thirds of global carbon dioxide emissions. Anna Simon's study
