The art world is on the move. As part of a critical reassessment of European-American art in an
international context many previously marginalized showplaces have been gaining the attention
they are due-hence also the Nepalese capital Kathmandu. In a large arc from modernism to the
vibrant most recent present the Weltmuseum in Vienna is honoring the outstanding art of Nepal.
The exhibition shows how local and global cultures continuously pervade one another and
simultaneously how Nepalese artists give expression to their own identity.
