This thesis presents the preparation and characterization of spiropyran-functional paper. Such
paper was prepared by dip-coating and benzophenone photocrosslinking strategies. The modified
paper shows an obvious chromatic response to UV light and metal ions which can be applied as
colorimetric sensors. Meanwhile the first proof-of-concept application of the modified paper
for the control of capillary-driven transportation of water in paper-based microfluidic channel
was also investigated.
