Anastasia V. Mitrofanova (b. 1973) is a Senior Research Fellow and Assistant Professor at the
Diplomatic Academy of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of the Russian Federation. She received her
M.A. and Cand.Sc. in political science from Moscow State University. In 1997 she was a Fox
Visiting Fellow at the Yale University Center for International and Area Studies in 2000 a
Fellow at the College of Security Studies of the Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies at
Honolulu and in 2004 a Visiting Professor at Kutztown University Pennsylvania. In
