Lawrence Beesley (1877-1967) was an English teacher journalist and author who was a survivor
of the sinking of the RMS Titanic. One of the survivors of the sinking of the Titanic in April
1912 Beesley wrote a successful book about his experience The Loss of the S. S. Titanic: Its
Story and its Lessons (June 1912) published just nine weeks after the disaster. For her time
Titanic was unsurpassed in luxury and opulence. Although she was technologically advanced for
the period on the night of 14 April 15 April 1912 the Titanic struck an iceberg and sank with
great loss of life.
