mysterious Christianity. In the early centuries A.D. after increasingly strict hierarchies
began to bury these truths only a few fellow practitioners knew about them and they
communicated them privately usually in obscure language. With the growing public interest in
the Gnostic Gospels and the mystery of Christianity this extraordinary book first published by
Besant in 1901 attracted new attention.
