Everything was ready for the grand London wedding of the heroine and the son of a renowned old
diplomat when the bride suddenly disappeared. Indirect evidence points to an Italian being
connected with the girl's disappearance. However the outbreak of the first world war at that
time postponed the chase for years. This work gives an interesting insight into the middle to
upper-class society and their etiquettes of the time. Rejection jealousy and manipulation all
come into play in the story until everything is resolved.
