related to the pilgrim and the pilgrimage. Alfred also includes various personal episodes from
his journey. This is the first book by a Westerner on this increasingly popular pilgrimage
route. About the Editor: Since 1999  David C. Moreton has been researching the Shikoku
pilgrimage and focusing on the history of Westerners and the Shikoku pilgrimage. He has
produced several guidebooks on the pilgrimage.
