Voyage of Discovery to N.S.W. in the Lady Nelson in 1800 is a historical account of the journey
to Hunter's River and Ash Island by Lieutenant James Grant  a Scottish-born British Royal Navy
officer and navigator in the early nineteenth century. The expedition aimed to proceed to
Australia to prosecute the discovery of the unknown parts of the coast of New Holland and map
new lands. It became the first ship to sail through the Bass Strait from west to east  charting
the then-unknown coastline.
