heavens opened and an invasion began. Alien creatures from the stars descended upon the
shattered earth  their weapons far beyond human comprehension. Soldiers and civilians were
slaughtered indiscriminately. Nations that had fought each other for years now faced an enemy
that made their previous conflicts meaningless. As panic spread and the world teetered on the
brink of disaster  Dr. Brunhild Stahlmüller worked in her hidden bunker. Together with her
assistant  Harmuth Griesgram  she had devoted her brilliant mind to a desperate project: Red
Beezlebub—an experimental aircraft built not only on the best engineering of man but also on
technology scrapped from crashed spaceships. With no suitable pilots left and time running out
Brunhild took control herself. Her destination: Verdun. Her target: the Chessmaster - the
self-proclaimed ruler of humanity  a creature of equal parts man and machine  a product of war
itself. Fueled by gasoline and hatred  she launched herself at him  knowing that this would
either end in triumph or in flames. But what she didn’t know was that an even greater power was
watching her from the shadows - a true player  for whom both she and the Chessmaster were mere
pawns in a much greater game…
