A year! Can you imagine what that is like?!? Well, I suppose you bookworms can, but for those who read my blog who are not necessarily bookworms… it was one of the longest waits of my entire life. That being said, this book was definitely worth the wait!! I loved it!!Eadlyn as a characters really showed development throughout this book from the previous one from someone who was snobby and self centred to someone who actually thought of others before she decided to act on something. In The Heir, she was a difficult character to like because of her attitude and behaviour toward other people and the way in which she held herself highly and considered herself to be above others. In this book, she actually stops to think about how she could improve the state of the country and she puts other people and their needs before her own.The boys. Of course I liked all of the Elite. There was however one special someone who had already stolen my heart from the very beginning of Eady’s story (The Heir) which basically meant I already had my ship to begin with. This book just made me ship them even stronger! When I thought that they weren’t going to get together in the end, I was pretty upset, but then they did and I was left lying in bed, doing a little jig of victory when in actual fact I should have been sleeping like any normal person would be doing with a 7 month old baby at 23:00!! I just couldn’t put this book down though! Clearly I cannot say who it was because that would just ruin all the fun for the people who still need to read this book!I think the stigma shown towards people of what would have been from the lower castes and other people who are, for example homosexual (talking about you, here, elite!), was very true to the stigma’s that some people still face today for exactly the same issues. I think, in this way, Cass did a pretty good job of making the society relevant and relatable to today’s society!Of course, there had to be a kink in the form of some horrible character who decides they need to destroy everything. Marid, I trusted you and you let me down. I genuinely thought he wanted to help. I probably should have been so trusting of the son of the two people who rebelled against the monarchy during America’s selection!!I really adored this book and I am actually pretty sad to see this series come to an end (again!). i would happily have this series continue just so I could see Eady and … be happy and what actually comes of the country after she imposes her new and very exciting changes!!:-) I gave this book 5/5 stars.Have you read this book? Für alle die die Selection Reihe gelesen haben, bietet die Geschichte um Eadlyn jetzt nicht viel neues, halt nur Mädchen sucht Junge, statt Junge sucht Mädchen. Ich fand die Reihe einfach süß. Keine hohe Literatur, aber den Anspruch hatte die Story auch nie. Ich für meinen Teil fand, dass Eadlyn sich richtig entschieden hat, auch wenn der Umstand, dass Erik nicht zum offiziellen Cast um die Königskrone gehörte ein bisschen unfair den anderen Bewerbern gegenüber war. Obwohl ich ja ein wenig gehofft hatte, Kile würde das Rennen machen, aber der ist als Architekt vielleicht besser dran. Man kann eine Entwicklung von der kühlen, beherrschten Prinzessin zur fürsorglichen Herrscherin bei Eadlyn beobachten und das fand ich schön. Auch dass ich etwas mehr über Erik erfuhr, hat mir an der Geschichte gefallen, denn mit seiner bescheidenen Art hat er mich schon in „The Heir“ für sich eingenommen.Ich mochte den Bachelor-Hunger Games Blot vom ersten Buch an und war anfangs skeptisch, als ich gesehen habe, dass die Autorin einen Spin-off zu the Selection herausbrachte und obwohl mit Eadlyn nicht so sehr ans Herz gewachsen ist, wie America habe ich es doch genossen ein wenig länger in Illea zu verweilen und die nächste Generation an Herrschern kennenzulernen.

Dieses Mal trägt sie ein rosa Kleid, dessen Dekolleté ihr zu weit ist. Das ist eindeutig zu erkennen! Außerdem gefällt mir nicht, wie sie in die Kamera schaut. Da hat mir das Cover zu The Heir besser gefallen.Meine Meinung(Spoiler für die, die Band 4 noch nicht gelesen haben)Kiera Cass‘ Schreibstil ist sehr angenehm und flüssig zu lesen, so dass man dieses Buch perfekt als Lektüre für Zwischendurch einschieben kann. Man braucht nicht groß nachzudenken beim Lesen und kann sich einfach fallen lassen.Die Geschichte geht da weiter, wo The Heir geendet hat. Nach dem unerwarteten Herzinfarkt von America liegt das Königreich in Eadlyns Händen, da Maxon jede Minute an Americas Seite verbringt. So hat Eadlyn neben ihrer Selection, dem Beinahe-Tod ihrer Mutter und Ahrens überraschender Hochzeit auch noch das ganze Land zu regieren. Puh, unter dem Druck zu bestehen … keine Ahnung, wie sie das macht.Schon zu Beginn des Buches schrumpft die Selection zur Elite zusammen und die letzten 6 buhlen weiterhin um ihre Hand. Ich als Leserin hatte meine ganz eigenen Tendenzen und werde hier nicht spoilern, aber meine erste Wahl war leider nicht ihre. Trotzdem fühle ich mich nicht unzufrieden, wenn ich an ihre Wahl denke.Der letzte Band der Selection-Reihe ist wie eine Heimkehr, nach einem Jahr endlich wieder nach Illéa, und nach anfänglichen Schwierigkeiten, mich wieder in die Geschichte und den aktuellen Stand der Dinge hineinzufinden, konnte ich mitfiebern und habe Eadlyn sogar noch lieber gewonnen als ich sie schon in Band 4 hatte. Fast alle Männer der Elite haben sich noch mal von ihrer besten Seite gezeigt, so dass – wenigstens mir – bis zum Ende nicht klar war, wen sie schlussendlich wählen wird.Leider ging es mir dann doch ein wenig zu schnell. 277 Seiten, um das ganze Finale unterzubringen war vielleicht etwas knapp bemessen, ich hätte mir etwas mehr Konflikt gewünscht, bevor es dann – natürlich – zum Happy Ende gekommen wäre. Potential hätte es definitiv gegeben.Das Ende war nicht das, was ich mir für diese Reihe vorgestellt hatte und dennoch kann ich nicht sagen, dass es mir gar nicht gefällt. Für Eadlyn hat es funktioniert und deshalb verabschiede ich mich mit einem lachenden und einem weinenden Auge von der Selection-Reihe.FazitEin würdiger Abschlussband, der mich trotz kleinerer Schwächen überzeugen konnte. Irgendwie bin ich traurig, dass die Reihe vorbei ist.Bewertung4/5
