After reading the first book in the series, I have bought everything written by Diana Gabaldon. Both in bookform and as audiobook. They are on constant repeat and I find it hard to motivate myself to read anything else. They have a very rare quality of getting you totally hooked / sucked into this historical world. The characters are layered and evolve, are human and fallible yet at the same time principled. You cannot but love them and the action keeps taking you through twists and turns. The story is lined with moments of deeper psychological and philosophical musings as well as a lot of humour, often derived from the juxtaposition of the two main protagonists being headstrong while also coming from different times and the confusion brought on by what is culturally acceptable (different) in both times.

Wieder einmal hat es Diana Gabaldon geschafft, eine durchgängig spannende Geschichte von Jamie und Claire zu erzählen, die m. E. ebenso gut ist wie die vorherigen.Natürlich gibt es wieder viele verschiedene Handlungsstränge, die nicht alle in diesem Band aufgelöst werden. Der Spannungsbogen wird in bekannt gekonnter Manier über diesen Band hinaus weiter geführt!Diana Gabaldon ist eine begnadete Autorin, die auch hier eine kaum überschaubare Menge von Handlungssträngen zu einem sehr spannenden Buch verwoben hat. Daher ist es besonders auffallend, dass es in keinem ihrer Bücher logische Fehler gibt (Hierfür Glückwunsche auch an Dianas Lektoren)!Ein tolles Buch für verregnete Tage, das man gerne mehr als einmal liest.Ein kleines Manko: Leider ist der Anteil an Schilderungen über die Medizin jener Zeit noch geringer als in Band 4 bzw. 5. Schade.Für Schnell-Leser wie mich ist es beruhigend, endlich wieder ein Buch in der Hand zu halten, das man nicht schon nach 5 Tagen durchgelesen hat ;-)Da ich mich hier auf die englische Version beziehe: Um alles richtig mitzubekommen, habe ich 14 Tage benötigt!!!
