This book is nothing but a hurricane. In a good way. After having my mind blown by the first book in the trilogy (The Gilded Wolves) I was more than excited to read its sequel and see how certain plots, ships and also character developments will turn out in The Silvered Serpents. I was not disappointed.I was STUNNED by the characters in the first book and they did not fail to entertain in me in the second book. I have to admit that my favorites out of the main cast are probably Laila and Enrique. Their chapters are always interesting and I absolutely love their backstories and also what they are doing now and are going to do in the future. The depth to their characters amazes me every single time and I truly could not imagine the book without them. But, of course, I‘m in awe with all of the main characters actually. Hypnos has grown on me even more than he did in the first book already. I am always completely stunned when reading Zofia‘s chapters, as she is just that impressive. And of course there‘s Séverin. Séverin was one of my favorites in the first book, and while he still is in the second book, I have to admit that he did frustrate me sometimes (still love him though, he just needs a hug.). But his actions and all of the other characters actions are mostly what make them so relatable. And that‘s such a good thing, I sadly don‘t get to see it that often.The plot of the book... my god. If I thought the first book was thrilling, I don‘t know what to tell my past-self about this one. I was HOOKED from the moment it started. The storyline never gets boring and I have to say... the plot twist toward the end really shocked me, and I was totally unable to put down the book again. It‘s just that good. I may or may have not shed a few tears (of laughter and sadness) throughout my reading process as well.The only thing I dislike? That I have to wait for the third book. I love cliffhangers because they are almost always exciting and you can guess what‘s going to happen next, but at the same time I just want to see what happens to the dear The Gilded Wolves crew and how the plot is going to turn out in the end.I guess you could say that Roshani Chokshi‘s The Gilded Wolves trilogy truly blew my mind, broke my heart, put it back together (... just to crush it again, but I hope it‘s going to be put back together in the next book...) and made me grin extremely (really, the humor in this book is on the highest level). I‘d actually go as far to say that this is one of the best book series I ever got to read and I hope that more people will decide to read it, because Roshani deserves one hell of respect for writing such masterpieces.
