This book will present original results as well opinionated overviews of the current state of
knowledge of the problem of anesthesia-induced unconsciousness and amnesia. It will present
evidence from molecular to system levels and lead to an integrative theory of
anesthetic-induced unconsciousness and amnesia. The hypothesized mechanism underlying
anesthetic action will be explored as a demonstration of bridging the gap between bench and
clinical research. It will synthesize information spanning a number of levels from molecular
integrative that has begun to reveal answers to the longstanding mystery of anesthesia.
