Um viele Kinder in seine Herrlichkeit zu führen redet Gott auf neue Weise: Er redet im Sohn.
Der Hebräerbrief präsentiert das Christusgeschehen als Innovationshandeln Gottes durch das ein
neuer Weg zu ihm eröffnet wird. Sein Handeln bewirkt eine Bewegung des Sohnes die die
Glaubenden in Bewegung bringt und hält. So wird der von Jesus gebahnte Weg zur Basis
ekklesialer Innovation. Dieser Weg zur Vollendung richtet die Glaubenden die dem Vorläufer
folgen anhaltend auf die verheißene Zukunft aus. In Orientierung am eschatologischen Ziel
bildet Kirche als innovationstragende Gemeinschaft dabei immer auch eigene Innovationen aus:
Will sie das Ziel erlangen kann sie nie beim Vorfindlichen verweilen. Vielmehr muss sie selbst
neue Wege wagen um dem neuen Weg Jesu treu zu bleiben. [A New Path. Aspects of Ecclesial
Innovation according to the Epistle to the Hebrews] To lead many children into his glory God
speaks in a new way: He speaks in the Son. The letter to the Hebrews presents the Christ event
as a divine act of innovation through which a new way to God is opened. His action causes a
movement of the Son that also sets and keeps believers in motion. Thus the path forged by
Jesus becomes the foundation of ecclesial innovation. This path to perfection directs
believers who follow the forerunner toward the promised future. Bound to the eschatological
goal the church - as an innovation-bearing community - constantly develops its own innovations
as well: In seeking to reach the goal it can never remain with what already exists. Rather it
must itself venture onto new paths in order to remain faithful to the new way of Jesus.
