Pflug, Julia: Konkurrenz aus dem Kloster

Convent apothecaries were among the few women in the 18th century who did not have to remain housewives but were able to pursue a profession. Using the example of Barbara Wild (1747-1815), the author explores the lived realities of convent apothecaries in the early modern period. She examines the conditions that enabled their professional activity, the conflicts between civic pharmacists and convent apothecaries, as well as their role in healthcare.
