After years of working as a consultant for national and international wineries Susana Balbo
decided to establish her winery in 1999 in the heart of the Mendoza region. Over the past
twenty years the company has proven its worth producing high-quality wines and conquering
Argentinian and foreign wine lovers with its great wines. The company is now managed by the
children José and Ana who together with the estate team carry on the family tradition.
BenMarco Malbec by Susana Balbo is produced with 100% Malbec grapes from the Los Chacayes
vineyard in the Uco Valley at an altitude of 1100 meters. The soil is made up of sand and rocky
silt which guarantee good drainage limit the excessive growth of the plant and ensure perfect
maturation. The grapes are harvested manually left to macerate for 30 days and then fermented
in stainless steel vats with selected yeasts. The wine is then aged for 11 months in
second-passage French oak barrels. The aromatic profile reveals a harmonious and
elegant combination of blackberry and violet notes. On the palate it shows all its pronounced
character with a marked acid vein and firm tannins. The finish is intense and persistent. Like
all great Argentinian Malbecs it pairs deliciously with grilled red meats roast pork pasta
with meat sauce and hard cheeses.
