The book is together with the one from bodie the standard literature for investment classes. The sharpe book was used for the CFA exam, which is one of the most prestigious exams in the investment world.I used it in a graduate course that was basically covering 3/4 of the book and I can say that it is well-written and very good for self-study. Naturally some of the concepts are more advanced, but I always found the language even clear enough for a novice to finance (with some quantitative knowledge). Examples and "text boxes" comment on recent developments and help to relate the theory to everyday life in the industry.Overall a good book, that is a foundation and a must-read as the likes of Brealey, Hull etc...
